Contrary to what Woody Harrelson or others would have you believe, i am a doctor who sees all kinds of people who have literally fallen off the rails of life once becoming potheads. It iws not as benign as pro-pot activists would have you believe. I think that there are SOME recreational users who REALLy don't let it interfere with their lives, but for each of these that I see, I see many more who suffer consequences of pot use. Teenagers who fail to graduate, people who can;t hold steady jobs, people who have trouble with the law, raising kids, holding stable relationships. And for some, It is a gateway-drug that does lead to heavier use.

pot is so pervasive that it is no longer popular or fashioable to hold such opinions; but`that doesn;t make the reality of the situation any less true...

I still am a civil libertarian and believe pot should be legal, but i also believe that I have a right to be fully protected from it. This would include: signing an irrevocable consent for testing when one applies for a license or social assistance.

Face it potheads: nobody wants their doctor, surgeon, lawyer, taxi driver, construction worker building their house or their airline pilot to be baked, like you are. If you want to withdraw from life, that's fine. Some do it with alcohol, or other drugs. But don't drive in a car and kill me or my kids.

Of for that matter, don't collect welfare or social assistance to support your habit and withdrawal from the world. Be responsible and do it on your own terms and at your own expense (financial, medical, emotional, and otherwise)

I have no idea how I got onto this forum talking about pot.

But anyway, getting baked & fried, living the life, payin' the bills.

What does it all mean Basil?

I knew a guy who bought a vaporizer and has partaken several times a day for 20 years and turned out fine. Just as doing shots of vodka before brain surgery would be ill advised, so would filling a balloon with vapors from a digital convection vaporizor heating some killer frosty watermelon flavored nuggets. Drinking too much coffee might make them hands shaky too, especially during vasectomies and cerebral cleavage or full frontal lobotomies.

Agreed. There are many socially-acceptable drugs and what is acceptable should be defined in many ways: culturally, in terms of the type of use, and in the context of how and when a person uses.

just as there is acceptable alcohol use, so should there be for other substances; but that, or anecdotal reports of 'one guy' should not be how such decisions are determined.

There are many I know who cannot drink ONE drink, or they will fall off the wagon entirely. Same is true for pot. I know many who start with "well, it's Friday night" and wake up monday AM with the realization that another weekend just drifted by...

As I said, I still believe ALL drugs should be legal, but just as I support free will, I fully support full consequences and full right of other to be protected from drugs e.g. employers should be free to test and rid themselves of pot or cocaine users if they choose. It's a 2-way street.

Agreed, and you must share that Pot that starts out Friday night, cuase I need some wake up next week stuff right now.

Some people are assholes with or without chemicals. They will find gambling, porn, sex, whatever. Obsession and excess are not healthy regardless of your object of obsession.

This ties in with gun control too, blaming guns for shootings is like blaming coke for crack heads. Check out Free Will by Rush and it all makes sense, at least until the acid wears off.

Humans are to blame for humanities problems, time to take some accountability, however you have to. 12 step, religion, something... get out there and dance.
